Balancing the Carbs 1
The slides need to be set totally even throttle closed, then should lift together at the tiniest throttle twist. Adjust to achieve this by turning the idle speed screws, then final play adjust of the throttle cables using the cable adjusters next to the idle speed screw. The carb top boots need to be there and not cracked or pieces missing. Once that's done initial set the air screws to 1.25 out, fully warm the engine then turn the air screws equally in 1/4 turn increments in or out to get the idle to sound how you want it.
Balancing the Carbs 2
The carbs have to be balanced very accurately. You must do this with the throttle OPEN. Get it so the bottom of each slide is flush with the top of the choke of the carb. When both flush, if you close the throttle a small amount, both should be visible the same amount.
If you try to balance them at the bottom (to see if they move up together), you are assuming that each tickover adjuster is set exactly the same.
In 10 years racing two-stroke twins, I know that balancing them at the top is the only accurate way.
If they then start moving up at different times when at the bottom, your tickover adjusters are set wrong.
Balance the carbs and set the ignition timing spot on - then report back.
